June 14-15, 2021 from 9 am – 2:30 pm each day
When a retreat and a professional development course meet, you have Awareness: The Workshop on Mindful Teaching. With expert teachers as guides, take two days and develop the basics of a personal mindfulness practice, and also learn about mindful teaching and sharing the gift of mindfulness with others.
These two-days over ZOOM have well-being benefits like a couple of days at a spa, only the benefits continue forever- and have the added bonus of earning a CEU credit! In this masterclass on mindful teaching, explore what brain-based mindfulness is and the background of mindfulness practice for children. You will relax while experiencing the basics of mindful meditation through a series of videos, readings, reflections, and guided mindfulness practices. This workshop also covers current scientific research on mindfulness and the brain, emotion regulation, and compassion.
Here’s what you will learn:
- What a personal mindfulness practice might look like and how you can be healthier as a result
- Mindful teaching techniques
- Using mindfulness in the classroom
- Benefits seen in children
- A summary of research and neuroscience
- A demonstration of lessons done with children
- A description of our evidence-based in-school program
